IBG and DAR Partner for JKIA Modernisation in Kenya

Independent Business Group (IBG) is proud to announce an exciting new chapter in our international aviation projects. On 18 September 2026, IBG, together with our joint venture partner DAR, signed a five-year consultancy agreement with Kenya’s State Department for Aviation and Aerospace Development.

The agreement covers Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) services for the modernisation of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi, one of Africa’s most important aviation hubs.

The ambitious modernisation project includes a new terminal and increased airport capacity, while ensuring that daily airport operations continue smoothly throughout the transformation. Preparing thousands of people, processes and systems for the transition will be a key part of this exciting assignment.

With Nairobi set to host the World Athletics Championships, the first ever to be held in Africa, the development of JKIA represents an important step towards strengthening Kenya’s position as a leading international aviation gateway.

A Partnership Built on Expertise and Collaboration

We are particularly pleased to embark on this journey alongside our valued partner DAR. By combining our complementary expertise, experience and shared commitment to operational excellence, we look forward to contributing to a successful transformation of JKIA.

The signing ceremony was made even more special by the presence of Sweden’s Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Håkan Åkesson, who joined IBG’s SVP Khaled Atta and Managing Director Deya Gebara for this important occasion.

We sincerely thank Kenya’s State Department for Aviation and Aerospace Development and the Kenya Airports Authority for their confidence and trust, as well as our colleagues at DAR for the excellent partnership.

We look forward to five years of close cooperation, shared achievements and new opportunities as we work together to support the future of aviation in Kenya.

Asante sana, Kenya! 🇰🇪✈️
