QA/QC ENGINEER
Responsibilities
JOB OVERVIEW
The Senior QA/QC Engineer supports the QA/QC Manager in implementing and maintaining the project’s Quality Management System (QMS) across all work packages under the supervision contract.
The role ensures that all construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and standards, and that contractors’ QA/QC practices are properly followed and documented.
Working closely with the Resident Engineers, Inspectors, and contractors’ QA/QC teams, the Senior QA/QC Engineer provides day-to-day oversight of inspection and testing activities, supports audits, and ensures consistency in quality control and reporting across the project.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Implementation of QA/QC Procedures
- Support the QA/QC Manager in implementing and monitoring the project’s Quality Management Plan (QMP) and procedures.
- Ensure that all QA/QC processes are consistently applied across different contractors and work packages.
- Verify that approved quality control procedures, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and Method Statements are followed at site level.
- Assist in the review and updating of QA/QC procedures as required by the QA/QC Manager.
- Coordinate with Resident Engineers and site teams to ensure that inspections and testing requirements are understood and properly executed.
Inspection & Verification
- Supervise and conduct inspections of works and materials to confirm compliance with drawings, specifications, and ITPs.
- Review and endorse contractors’ inspection requests (IRs) and material approval requests (MARs) before submission to the QA/QC Manager or client.
- Ensure that all materials and workmanship meet project and international quality standards.
- Coordinate with testing laboratories for routine and special tests and review test results for compliance.
- Identify and report any deviations or non-conformances to the QA/QC Manager for action and follow-up.
Non-Conformance & Corrective Action Management
- Assist the QA/QC Manager in managing and tracking Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Corrective Action Reports (CARs).
- Ensure NCRs are raised promptly for non-compliant works and that corrective measures are implemented effectively.
- Monitor the closure of NCRs and preventive actions in coordination with the relevant Resident Engineer and contractor.
- Maintain updated NCR registers and provide status summaries for reporting.
Quality Documentation & Records
- Maintain accurate QA/QC documentation, including inspection logs, test reports, calibration certificates, and quality registers.
- Ensure all QA/QC documentation is properly filed and traceable within the project’s Document Control System (e.g., Aconex).
- Assist the QA/QC Manager in preparing weekly and monthly QA/QC reports highlighting inspection statistics, NCR trends, and key issues.
- Verify that contractors’ QA/QC documentation (e.g., test results, checklists, handover dossiers) are complete and properly compiled.
Audits & Continuous Improvement
- Support the QA/QC Manager in conducting internal audits of the supervision team and external audits of contractors.
- Participate in surveillance inspections and spot checks to ensure ongoing compliance with project standards.
- Identify recurring quality issues and assist in developing preventive and corrective measures.
- Contribute to lessons learned documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Coordination & Communication
- Act as the primary interface for day-to-day QA/QC coordination with contractors and Resident Engineers.
- Support the QA/QC Manager in communicating quality expectations and feedback to contractor QA/QC teams.
- Participate in coordination and progress meetings to provide updates on QA/QC activities and issues.
- Liaise with HSE and technical engineers to ensure quality and safety requirements are integrated into site operations.
- Support preparation of quality documentation for client presentations and audits.
Project Handover & Close-Out
- Verify that all quality records, test certificates, and as-built documentation are complete and in line with project requirements.
- Support the QA/QC Manager and Resident Engineer in final inspections, snagging, and handover documentation review
- Ensure lessons learned and close-out reports are properly documented and filed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline.
- 8–10 years of QA/QC experience in major construction projects, with at least 3–5 years in a supervision or consultancy role.
- Experience in Commercial Buildings specifically Airport projects will be preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of QA/QC standards (ISO 9001:2015) and international construction codes (ASTM, BS, ).
- Experience managing QA/QC operations across multiple contractors and work packages.
- Familiarity with Aconex or other electronic document management systems.
- ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor certification preferred; Lead Auditor certification is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of MEP works.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and QA/QC documentation systems.
