ICT INSPECTOR

Responsibilities

JOB OVERVIEW

The ICT Inspector is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and verifying all ICT and ELV installations on-site to ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards, and authority requirements. The role supports the ICT Engineer in supervising contractors, reviewing workmanship, ensuring quality control, and facilitating smooth coordination between ICT, MEP, and civil teams throughout the construction and commissioning phases

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct daily inspections of ICT and ELV works, including structured cabling, fiber optics, network equipment installation, and system terminations.
  2. Verify compliance with approved shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, and project specifications.
  3. Review and sign off Work Inspection Requests (WIRs) and Material Inspection Requests (MIRs) related to ICT systems.
  4. Monitor installation quality for systems such as CCTV, Access Control, PA/BGM, SMATV, Intercom, and other ELV systems.
  5. Ensure adherence to standards, including TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC 11801, and local authority regulations (DU/Etisalat, SIRA, etc.).
  6. Identify non-conformities, issue NCRs when required, and follow up on corrective actions.
  7. Coordinate with contractors to resolve site issues, interface conflicts, and installation discrepancies.
  8. Review as-built drawings, cable routing, labeling, and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  9. Witness testing and commissioning, including continuity tests, OTDR testing, and system functionality checks.
  10. Prepare daily reports, inspection logs, snag lists, and progress updates for the ICT Engineer.
  11. Support authority inspections and ensure all ICT works meet regulatory requirements.
  12. Ensure safety compliance and adherence to airport operational protocols during site activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering
  • 3–8 years of experience in ICT/ELV installation, inspection, or supervision within construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong experience with:
  • Structured cabling (Cat6/Cat6A, fiber optic)
  • ELV systems (CCTV, ACS, PA/BGM, SMATV, Intercom)
  • Data center/IT room installations
  • Cable containment and routing
  • Experience reviewing shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals.
  • Familiarity with UAE authority requirements (DU/Etisalat, SIRA, Civil Defense).
  • Previous experience in airport, aviation, or large-scale infrastructure projects is an advantage.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of ICT and ELV systems.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC).
  • Ability to read and interpret ICT/ELV drawings and schematics.
  • Experience with OTDR, cable testers, and commissioning tools.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for drawing review.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
